Author Guidelines

A. General Requirements

Authors are required to submit manuscripts that are original, free from plagiarism, and not under consideration by any other journal. All submissions must conform to the journal’s manuscript template. The journal gives priority to manuscripts written in Bahasa Indonesia. However, authors must also provide the English elements required by the template, including the English title and English abstract. Each author must have an ORCID iD, and the ORCID link must be included in the manuscript. Manuscripts must fall within the scope of the journal and demonstrate academic relevance, clarity, and contribution to the development of legal studies. In certain cases, the editorial team may request valid proof that the manuscript has undergone professional proofreading.

B. Writing Rules

The manuscript must be between 6,000 and 9,000 words, including footnotes but excluding the references section. The title must be concise and must not exceed 15 words. Authors are required to provide at least 30 references, preferably from the last five years. Citations must be presented in footnotes using the Chicago Manual of Style (Full Note) format. To ensure consistency, authors are strongly encouraged to use reference management software such as Mendeley or Zotero. References must be written clearly and completely. For journal articles, authors should provide a valid DOI link whenever available. For online sources, direct and valid URLs must be included.

C. Structure of the Manuscript

The manuscript must be arranged in the following order:

  1. Title
The title must be concise, specific, and no longer than 15 words.
  2. English Article Title
An English version of the title must be provided.
  3. Author Identity
The manuscript must include the full name of each author, institutional affiliation, city, province, country, and ORCID link. The corresponding author’s active email address must also be provided.
  4. Abstract (Bahasa Indonesia)
The abstract in Bahasa Indonesia must not exceed 250 words. It should clearly state the research objective, main issue, method, findings, and conclusion. The abstract must be written as a single standalone summary and must not contain citations.
  5. Keywords (Bahasa Indonesia)
Provide 3 to 5 keywords related to the topic. Keywords should be specific and separated by semicolons.
  6. Abstract (English)
The English abstract must not exceed 250 words and should reflect the entire content of the manuscript. It should briefly present the objective, main issue, method, findings, and conclusion. No citations should appear in the abstract.
  7. Keywords (English)
Provide 3 to 5 keywords in English, separated by semicolons.
  8. Introduction
The introduction must clearly explain the background of the study, its urgency, significance, and scholarly context. It should include relevant previous studies, identify the limitations of earlier works, demonstrate the novelty of the manuscript, and state the research objective. Authors are expected to engage with prior scholarship and position the manuscript within broader legal discourse. The introduction should also include at least several relevant previous studies on the topic.
  9. Method
This section must explain the research methodology in a clear and descriptive manner. For research articles, authors should describe the research location or context, data collection methods, and data analysis method. For review-based manuscripts, the section should explain the topic under review, the theoretical or legal framework used, and the scope or limitation of the analysis.
  10. Results and Discussion
This section is the core of the manuscript and must present the main findings or analytical arguments in a clear and concise way. Authors may use subheadings as needed. The discussion should highlight the significance of the findings and, where relevant, show how the manuscript differs from or contributes beyond previous publications. Tables and figures must be placed in the center, clearly readable, and properly cited in the text. Images should have a minimum resolution of 300 dpi. Tables should use an open format without vertical lines.
  11. Conclusion
The conclusion must directly answer the research objective and summarize the main point of the study. It should be concise and should not merely repeat the abstract or restate the discussion in detail. Where appropriate, the conclusion may include implications or recommendations derived from the findings.
  12. Declaration of Conflicting Interest
Authors must state any conflict of interest related to the publication or the research. If there is no conflict of interest, authors may write:
“The authors declare no conflict of interest in the publication of this article.”
  13. Funding Information
Authors must provide information about financial support for the research. If no funding was received, authors may write:
    “None.”
  14. Acknowledgment
This section may be used to acknowledge individuals, institutions, or funding bodies that supported the research and writing process.
  15. References
The bibliography must be generated consistently in accordance with the Chicago Manual of Style (Full Note). All cited sources must appear in the references list. Authors are responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of bibliographic data.
  16. Author Biography
Each submission must be accompanied by a short biography of each author in a separate file. Each biography must be descriptive and should not exceed 150 words.

D. Footnotes and References

All citations must appear in the form of footnotes, not in-text references. The journal uses the Chicago Manual of Style (Full Note) format. Authors are strongly encouraged to use citation management software to maintain consistency and accuracy. Footnotes may contain not only source information but also brief explanatory notes when necessary. References must be relevant, up to date, and predominantly drawn from scholarly sources. The manuscript must contain at least 30 references.

E. Additional Notes

Manuscripts that do not comply with the journal template and author guidelines may be returned to the authors for revision before entering the review process. All submissions will first undergo editorial screening. Manuscripts that do not meet the journal’s standards, scope, or formatting requirements may be rejected before peer review. Manuscripts that pass the initial screening will be considered for further review in accordance with the journal’s editorial policy.
